Farm parks in Kent and Sussex

They've been to six farms this year and they still lose it completely when they see a lamb. Don't question it. Just go. Something about a farm park bypasses whatever critical faculty children are supposed to be developing. It doesn't matter if they've done this exact thing three times already this year — the goats, the tractor ride, the overpriced bag of animal feed that disappears in about 40 seconds — they want to do it again. And honestly, as a day out, you could do a lot worse. Fishers Farm Park in West Sussex is the one that keeps coming up when parents in the area talk about the best they've been to. It's big — bigger than you expect — with enough going on that you can genuinely fill a full day without inventing activities. Bocketts Farm in Surrey is the other one worth flagging: smaller, but with a loyal following and consistently good reviews from parents with kids under 10. Both get busy in school holidays. Both are worth booking ahead. The farm shop tier is different and worth knowing about separately. Tibbs Farm, Middle Farm, Washbrooks — these aren't theme parks with a farm attached. They're actual working farms where you can see animals, eat good food and spend a couple of hours without it costing £50 or requiring a wristband. The kids still enjoy it. Your bank account enjoys it more. Mud is non-negotiable at most of these. The wellies that have been in the boot since February will finally earn their place. Bring a change of trousers for anyone under seven — possibly for yourself too, depending on how enthusiastic the goat encounter gets.
