Biggin Hill Recreation Ground is a straightforward local park with a playground, large field space and a gated garden area. The reviews suggest it’s more of a let-the-kids-burn-off-energy spot than a destination attraction, which is often exactly what families need on a damp Saturday afternoon. The best bits are the play equipment, the open grass and the fact that there are two dog-free areas. Parents also liked being able to sit on a bench and keep an eye on the children without having to do laps of the field like an anxious meerkat. The summer festival sounded especially strong, with crafts, stalls, food and entertainment all getting a thumbs-up. It’s not perfect. The car parks are small, though apparently manageable when it’s quiet, and one review was very grumpy about equipment being adjusted or fenced off. There’s no mention of toilets, baby-changing or proper café facilities, so assume basics rather than bells and whistles.
