Big, useful and free; not thrilling, but it does the basics very well.
The long read worth saving for nap time
What’s it actually like?
Norman Park is a large country park with open fields, circular walking routes and an enclosed play area. Reviews also mention an athletics track, park run, and plenty of space for football, jogging, cycling and scooters. It sounds very much like a proper local workhorse rather than a polished visitor attraction. For families, the main win is space. Children can run, kick a ball, ride scooters and generally be feral in the approved manner. The paths are well paved, so it should suit prams and wheels reasonably well, and there are free parking areas at both ends, which is always a small miracle. The trade-off is that this is more park than day-out destination. The play area is only one part of it, the cafe is mentioned but not reviewed in detail, and some evenings get very busy with footballers, runners and dogs. Also, the longer route can apparently turn into a minor expedition if you lose the trail, so do bring water and sensible shoes.
