Willett Recreation Ground sounds like a solid local green space rather than a big day-out attraction. Reviews mention a children’s play area, multiple tennis courts, cricket, bowls and an open field, so there’s enough here to keep a mixed-age family occupied for a while. Parents will like the practical bits: it’s open from 7am to sunset, there are benches for a sit-down, and the car park is said to have around 30 spaces, which is refreshingly un-faffy. It’s also clearly popular with dog walkers and runners, so there’s a decent community-park feel to it. The downsides are mostly about scale and amenities. There’s no mention of toilets, café or baby facilities in the reviews, and the tennis courts need booking. In other words: good for fresh air and sport, less good if you were hoping for bells, whistles and an emergency flat white.
